Jon Stewart 'offended' as he addresses why his name appears in the Epstein Files
Jon Stewart, the host of The Daily Show, recently found himself unexpectedly involved in the ongoing Jeffrey Epstein case after his name appeared in newly released documents.
Epstein, the convicted financier, was linked to many high-profile figures in the files made public on January 31, 2026, including the likes of Prince Andrew, Bill Gates, and Donald Trump. However, Stewart’s mention came as a surprise, not because of any personal involvement with Epstein but rather due to an email exchange from 2015.
The email, between Epstein and producer Barry Josephsen, discussed the possibility of creating a stand-up comedy special about a comedian referred to as “Woody.” In the conversation, Stewart’s name was casually suggested as a potential host or narrator for the special, which caught the comedian’s attention.
Stewart responded with mock outrage, saying, “Excuse me? I am offended. Somebody like Jon Stewart, or Jon Stewart? My point is, do I have the offer, or is this an audition?”
Stewart comments on the Epstein files release
Stewart didn’t hold back when reacting to the news. He compared the release of the files to “Groundhog Day,” a day when “Donald Trump sees Epstein’s shadow,” referring to the endless revelations surrounding Epstein that have yet to bring any clarity about the full extent of the scandal.
He continued, voicing frustration over the lack of accountability for powerful individuals, saying, “It seems pretty clear to me that there is a sanctuary city in this country. The real sanctuary city is where money and power protect you from the consequences of sex trafficking, or influence peddling.”
Stewart had previously addressed Trump’s connection to Epstein, commenting on the former president’s response to the emails that linked him to Epstein. Stewart stated, “You know it’s real because his allies are working overtime to distract,” referencing how some media outlets, like Fox News, chose to focus on unrelated topics rather than the Epstein revelations.
Trump and the Epstein files
The release of the Epstein files has raised further questions about Trump’s past association with the financier. In a particularly controversial email from November 2025, Epstein claimed that Trump “knew about the girls.”
Despite this, Trump denied any wrongdoing, saying he knew nothing about the contents of the emails. Stewart, however, pointed out that the president had the power to release the files at any time, stating, “If he had nothing to hide, he could have declassified and released these files at any time, and how do I know this? He said so.”
As Stewart continues to discuss the Epstein case, he’s remained critical of the ongoing lack of transparency and the political figures attempting to deflect attention away from the serious allegations at hand.
